Trinity means Bramha, Vishnu & Mahesh.there are two stories , why Indian Hindu Celebrating Maha Shivratri as Festival. one story belong to north india & another one is blonging to south india. here we trying to knowning both stories in short.before that try to understanding Why is the festival of Mahashivratri celebrated, before that it is necessary to know who is the Supreme Soul Shiva and why is Supreme Soul Shiva worshiped in the form of Shivling? In fact, Shivling is a memorial of the formless form of God. Lord Shiva is formless, it is formless, it is a point of light, it is different from birth and death, it never enters the mother's womb, that is why it is worshiped in the form of Shivling. Shivling is the idol of the formless God, who does not have any body like humans, no eyes, nose, ears, mouth, etc. He is a soul, but he is the Supreme Soul, that is, the highest and greatest soul among all souls. God never takes birth from a mother's womb. His birth has been praised as divine and supernatural. At the end of Kalyug and at the beginning of Navyug i.e. Golden Age, Supreme Soul Shiva gives the knowledge of the beginning, middle and end of the creation to human beings by taking the support of a very ordinary body and teaches Raja Yoga to purify the impure.Everyone celebrates the birth anniversaries of the gods and goddesses, but they celebrate Shivratri of the Supreme Soul Shiva, because at the end of the night in the form of Kalyug, Supreme Soul Shiva takes birth in an ordinary body by entering a foreign body. God does not always reside in that body but enters it only to give knowledge and after giving knowledge goes back to his own world, Brahmalok. God's ride Nandi has been shown which is the proof that God takes the support of the body of a man.
Belpatra Dhatura etc. on Lord Shiva It also has a spiritual secret that God loves our demerits, that is, the mental disorders like lust, anger, greed, attachment, ego etc., we have to donate them to Lord Shiva, because only by donating them, the soul will become clean and pure. Ther night of Maha Shivratri is darkest night of the year, are such that there is a powerful natural upsurge of energy in the human system. It is enormously beneficial for one’s physical and spiritual wellbeing to stay awake and aware in a vertical posture throughout the night. On Shivratri, people keep vigil all night and chant the hymns of God throughout the night. In fact, waking up from the sleep of ignorance is the true awakening and taking the vow of donating the five vices is the true vow. Fasting means staying close to the Supreme Soul Shiva. The meaning of Shiva is welfare because God Shiva does welfare of all human beings and gives salvation and life to all. Secondly, the meaning of Shiva is the seed form, God Shiva is the seed of the tree of human culture. The third meaning of Shiva is the form of a point because the form of the Supreme Soul is a very subtle point of light. In the eighth chapter of the Gita, the Supreme Soul has said that I am subtler than an atom. Therefore, knowing the Supreme Soul, having yoga with Him, renouncing the five vices, waking up from the sleep of ignorance is the true celebration of Shivratri. At present Shivratri is going on, Supreme Soul Shiva is giving true knowledge by taking the support of the body of Prajapita Brahma and this night in the form of Kalyug is about to end and the day in the form of Satyug is about to come Om Shanti.
